Kingdom Insights – Getting a Vision for Our Victory
Greetings Friends,
Pastor Janet here. A few days after releasing the last teaching I had on crossing the Red Sea, I was cleaning the house and I heard the Lord say, “Jericho” three times. I asked Him, “What about Jericho, Lord?” He gave no immediate reply so I turned to Joshua chapter 1 to read God’s account of Jericho to see what revelation He wanted to impart.
As I read, there were several things His Spirit highlighted.
Joshua 1:8-9 (NASB)
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may ]be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
It is very important that God’s people keep themselves grounded and bathed in the Word of God. It will fortify our faith, drive away our fears and empower us to move ahead in the power of His might and under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Joshua 3:8 (NASB)
8 So you shall command the priests who are carrying the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’”
The ark of the covenant always represents the presence of the Lord. The Jordan River water represents the Spirit of the Lord. It will be necessary for the children of God to spend time in God’s presence so we can walk in the Spirit and know and understand the strategies of heaven necessary to take the land or mountain we are called to take and to occupy. If Joshua had led Israel in traditional battle tactics in the effort to take the walled city of Jericho, they may not have been successful. It will be imperative for us to be led by the Spirit of God to obtain victory.
Joshua 5:1 (NASB)
5 Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard how the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the sons of Israel.
Know that your enemies have lost courage no matter what kind of front they are putting on. Walk in obedience with confidence that God is with you.
Joshua 5:2-3 (NASB)
5 2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, “Make for yourself flint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time.” 3 So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at Gibeath-haaraloth.
Like Israel, we need to humble ourselves in obedience and circumcise our hearts ridding ourselves of all the dead, calloused, obstinate parts of our hearts. Paul wrote:
Romans 2:28-29 (NASB)
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. 29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from people, but from God.
Joshua 6:1-2 (NASB)
6 Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one came in. 2 But the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have handed Jericho over to you, with its king and the valiant warriors.
Joshua was looking at a fortified city that appeared to be impenetrable. Nevertheless, God gave His instructions that brought victory.
We MUST walk in obedience by faith NOT by sight.
Joshua 6:5 (NASB)
5 It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight ahead.”
When I read that verse, I heard, “It will be your obedience, praise and declarations that turn your enemy’s fortifications to dust!”
Joshua 6:19 (NASB)
19 But all the silver and gold, and articles of bronze and iron are holy to the Lord; they shall go into the treasury of the Lord.”
A great wealth transfer from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of God is coming. That transfer is for the propagation of God’s Kingdom on the earth and to bring in the great end time harvest and NOT just to be lavished on ourselves. God wants His people to rule, to reign and to occupy until He comes. That’s what the wealth is for. We must be obedient and faithful stewards of the blessings that are coming.
Finally, God made it very clear to me that there was a huge difference in the mindset of His children leaving Egypt and His children entering the promised land. One group was fleeing in fear of their enemy’s. The other crossed the Jordan ready and willing to face down their enemy and to slay the giants to possess the land. We must change our mindset to that of conquering victors with our faith in God Almighty. We must get a vision for victory and be willing to face down the giants in our land for His name sake and for the sake of His Kingdom.
Blessings,
Pastor Janet
